Haram Police forces abducted Abdul Rahman Ibrahim Abdul Magid Qutb Alsabagh 23 a technical institute student on December 22nd, 2015 from the Talbia district in Haram while he was walking with 2 of his friends. He was abducted without legal support or warrant for his arrest and taken to an unknown destination.
Eye witnesses contacted his family to inform them of his abduction and they immediately went to search for him. They submitted several complaints to the prosecutor general informing him of the incident however to date received no response raising suspicion that the police are involved. The abduction is a violation to article 5 of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance which stipulates the widespread or systematic practice of enforced disappearance constitutes a crime against humanity as defined in applicable international law and shall attract the consequences provided for under such applicable international law.
For its part HRM shares the family's concern over their son's fate and holds the state fully responsible for the crime which is a violation to the universal Declaration of Human Rights namely
article 1 cites all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
It calls on the Egyptian authorities to immediately disclose the whereabouts of Abdul Rahman and to release him. Furthermore it urges the judiciary to support and respect human rights and work towards pressuring the state to inform the detainee's family of his location.
